Description
Commissioned as part of a team including consulting engineers to research and prepare a report detailing a Whole Life Cost analysis undertaken for three pavement surfaces: permeable block paving (type C), unreinforced concrete and asphalt, for four applications: supermarket car parks, industrial warehouse car parks, distribution roads on a housing estate and distribution roads on an industrial estate. The report specifies the required maintenance schedule over the design life of each of the pavement applications-type combinations.
A key element of the analysis is determination of the optimum maintenance schedule. Costing was undertaken from Corderoy’s in-house database, and where necessary costs were built up from first principles using expertise gained on the Highways Agency term maintenance contracts.
